About Alice

She was born in Montgomery Alabama to one of the original Tuskegee Airmen Families. She was a military youngster who was fortunate to experience and appreciate much of the world at a young age. The family also includes two sisters-one born in St. Louis, Missouri and one in Fort Huachuca, Arizona - and her brother, who was born in Germany.

Writing is no new passion for Alice.  An example is her fervor for her first Royal Typewriter at the age of six. Her uncle was benefactor and teacher. As a teenager- she wrote magazine articles.

As a university administrator – she wrote and frequently published articles in educational journals.

As a citizen – she is frequently published in local newspaper editorials.  As an author – she creates real situations and authentic people.  You will first, love and hate them but most of all you will remember them.

Alice is the proud winner of the 2001 Chester Himes Award given annually to an outstanding black mystery writer for their work. Previous winners of this award include Dr. Robert Greer and Walter Mosely. See our pictures.

As a politically involved woman – she is crucially aware of the complexities of African American Issues. She is sensitive to abuse of women and children and other human concerns.  She loves debating dissenting views. You can frequently find her skulking around the Internet in ‘news groups’ - expressing her opinions.

Alice is author of the month for February at the Good Book Club of Highlands Ranch, Colorado.

The Last Days Murder List is the April Book of the Month for the online reading group APOOO (a place of our own) Yasmin M. Coleman,  founder.
